Layered Margarita Bites

2 cups boiling water
2 pkg. (3 oz. each) Jello margarita flavored gelatin
1/2 c. tequila or cold water
zest and juice from 1 lime
2 c. thawed cool whip

add boiling water to gelatin mixes in large bowl; stir w/ whisk 2 min. until completely dissolved.
stir in tequila or water, 2 tblsp. lime juice.
add cool whip and 1 tsp. lime zest;
stir until cool whip is completely melted and mixture is well blended
pour into 8" square pan
refrigerate 3 hrs or til firm..cut into pieces to serve

***you could also substitute the magarita flavored gelatin w/ pineapple jello and then use malibu rum in place of tequila..
